In Bangladesh, we throw away an unbelievable amount of perfectly edible food every day. At the same time, a growing number of Bangladeshi find themselves struggling to make ends meet. In the course of a year, around 3.6 million Bangladesh find themselves unable to afford enough food to feed themselves or their families. For more than 1 million of these people, this is not a one-off, but a regular occurrence. The reasons behind this are complicated, but the bottom line isn’t – in short: we throw good food away while people go hungry. That doesn’t make sense.

We feed kids every day, kids that are in school and kids that are at-home learning. Everything we do is possible thanks to the community, including volunteers, donors, and partners. Every day, volunteers come together and prepare healthy lunches that are delivered to kids in school; some volunteers come to our central kitchen, while others go to one of the 24 community groups that are spread throughout the city. Corporate groups, restaurants, individuals, all of us get together with one purpose in mind: to send healthy lunches to kids in their community. We are funded by people like you, corporations, small businesses, and everyone that cares about feeding kids in our city.

Bangladesh has an impressive 44% literacy rate, which undoubtedly is a big success of the present Government’s visionary education policy. Still, there exist some major areas of development concerning the national primary education system. These include: poverty and rising inequality, widening disparities in education opportunities and facilities, poor class-attendance and alarming dropout-rates, lack of skilled teachers, lack of scientific curriculum, high cost of school-education, imposition of newer systems of education without proper teachers-training programs, etc.
